CRUDES is a multidisciplinary body of work exploring emotional inheritance, labour, women’s bodies as archives, and the parallels between nature and the human body. Following filmed chapters across Kathmandu Valley and Mustang, Sankhamul becomes CRUDES’ first living public extension.
In a river corridor where mourning, environmental degradation, displacement, and everyday life coexist, six women collectively pull an immense length of cloth carrying grain across Sankhamul Ghat. The procession is one continuous durational action. The resulting cloth, documented images and sound then gain a second life on the river as a public installation.
Documented images and sound return to Sankhamul as a public audiovisual afterimage across the Bagmati and surrounding architecture.
The installation is public, free, and visible from multiple vantage points, to allow accessibility for broader Kathmandu audiences without barriers of entry.
The work responds to weather, community and river conditions.

The Sankhamul chapter marks a homecoming and the artist’s first public artwork in Nepal.
